Bryce Elischer

Born and raised in Monterey, I began drawing and painting at an early age. At 14 I began to paint in oil, and at 16 I joined Youth Arts Collective, a Monterey based nonprofit group that provides open studios and mentoring for young artists in the area. After graduating high school, I began attending Laguna College of Art & Design in Laguna Beach.

There I studied life drawing and painting in a traditional academic environment, with the focus on representational art and the figure. In addition to drawing and painting, I also studied figure sculpting for 4 years.  In 2013, I received a BFA in Drawing and Painting, and a Minor in Figurative Sculpture from LCAD. Since graduating I have continued to pursue painting and sculpture, creating bodies of work and participating in juried shows regularly.

My paintings capture the beauty and rawness of the Central Coast through depictions of surfing, nocturnes, and plein air. They are influenced by the literary work of Robinson Jeffers, and painters Charles Rollo Peters and Edward Hopper, as well as Caspar David Friedrich. I offer private painting and plein air instruction, and I am a member of the Central Coast Art Association, the Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association, the California Art League, and I am an Associate member of the California Art Club. My work can be found at the Venture Gallery in Monterey.
