CCAA’s Demo Artist, April 22: Erin Hunter

The April demonstration is Colored Pencil Techniques for Artists with Erin Hunter. Colored pencils aren’t just for kids—many artists use them as their primary medium to create richly colored, highly detailed drawings. Artist-grade colored pencils come in a breathtaking array of colors, and can be used on white drawing paper, toned (colored) paper, and drafting vellum. They can also be used alongside other media such as watercolor and pen & ink. Join local artist/science illustrator Erin Hunter for an evening exploring this rich and versatile medium!

Erin Hunter is a trained science illustrator with a background in graphic design. She splits her work between fine art paintings depicting the natural world, and technical illustrations for an academic science journal (Annual Reviews). Her personal work focuses on the interactions between plants and animals, with a special interest in plant-pollinator relationships. She also teaches the occasional weekend workshop, giving classes in natural history, drawing, and painting.
