CCAA’s Demo Artist, August 28: Sarah Saleet

Join us as we welcome Sarah Saleet, as our guest artist and speaker for our August meeting. Sarah’s personal fiber artwork focuses on texture and a variety of hand-weaving techniques. She aims to create movement and interest through use of a variety of materials and structures. Abstract fiber art feels more comfortable and easygoing as touchable artworks in the home, rather than sometimes ornate paintings. She will demonstrate how she uses a simple frame loom and several hand weaving techniques and tools to facilitate her fiber art creations. Sarah will discuss her process of planning a palette of yarn colors and textures prior to creating a work, and show her new Summer Series. She will also display her experimentation and work in Shibori textiles. Finally, Sarah will discuss opportunities to learn these techniques through fall workshop offerings.

Sarah Saleet is a fiber artist and art educator, currently teaching in Morgan Hill, CA. She has both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Art Education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where she discovered her love for Fiber Arts. She developed a Fiber Arts course and curriculum at her school, teaching techniques from embroidery and weaving, to quilting and dyeing fabrics. Sarah enjoys being a practicing artist and educator, sharing her passion for the arts through engaging hands-on experiences.
