CCAA’s Demo Artist, Jan.22: Mark Farina

On Monday, Jan.22, 2018, Mark Farina, will offer an oil painting demonstration of a how to create better compositions and harmony by applying liner and atmospheric perspective in your paintings. Mark will do an oil demo explaining these fundamentals in a landscape painting.

Mark Farina went to Florida State U. on a partial golf scholarship, but only played for his freshman year. Farina became interested in art and it became his main interest for the remainder of my collage education. After graduating from college, Mark made a livelihood in both golf and commercial art. Farina moved to the Monterey Peninsula in the early 80’s and freelanced as a graphic designer and illustrator. During this period, he was also painting in watercolor and oil. Inspired by the spectacular scenery of the Monterey Peninsula Farina started painting en plein air, or outside on location. This became a passion and eventually fine art painting became Farina’s full-time vocation. His interest in subject matter is not limited to just the landscape,as he also paints still-life, architecture and figures.

Farina’s Education: B.A. Degree, Florida State University, Art, Minor: Art History, two trimesters in Florence, Italy.

The Central Coast Art Association meets 6:30-8 pm at the Monterey Youth Center, 777 Pearl St (next to Dennis the Menace Park), Monterey, the fourth Monday of each month (please check for holiday schedules). Attendance is free and open to the public.
