CCAA’s Demo Artist, March 25: Michael Armstrong

The March demonstration is “A Celebration of Trees” with Michael Armstrong. We’ll explore their use in creating dynamic and engaging landscapes. We’ll consider various approaches to rendering familiar trees found locally- their shape and structure and ideas for placement in groupings, as solo elements, and to create scale and perspective. Trees add so much to the landscape painter’s repertoire-besides their interesting designs, they create strong vertical elements, wonderful negative shapes, interesting shadow patterns, and add drama and strength. No wonder they have been so revered by painters throughout time. Join us for this fun and informative session.

“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.” ―   John Muir

“You know me, I think there should be a big old tree right there, and let’s give him a friend. There’s nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.”
―   Bob Ross

“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
