Jan Scott

After retiring from teaching mathematics in the Carmel Unified School District,
watercolor proved an irresistible draw. Local teaching influences include Jane Flury,
Jan Valtr, Maryellen Okelberry , and more extensively, Mark Farina and Marie Gilmore
for plaine aire landscapes and Anita Decarlo for still lifes. Her watercolor experience
also includes many workshops with renown artists.
Jan prefers painting in the outdoors. The whole experience of the natural element, the
sounds of nature, as well as the people who wander by, all add to what the painting
becomes. Her most favored paintings contain these essential elements and reflect what
she encounters during the process.
