Marilyn Van den Bogaerde

I have been painting in watercolors for over 20 years.  I had the good fortune to attend incredible watercolor workshops with Judy Wagner, Tony Couch, Tony Van Hassslet, Frank Webb, Jerry Stitt and University of San Francisco.  The translucence, the flow, and the magic of watercolors still enthrall me.  My style is interpretative and subjects include landscapes, flowers, still life, interesting buildings, and portraits.

Each painting always presents a new learning and my art continues to grow as I experiment with color, form, design, and light.  Learning and growing is the basis of my philosophy of creating art.  If I don’t create at least one bad painting a week (and those failures get turned into bookmarks) I’m not learning and growing.  As the famous watercolorist Edgar Whitney stated artists are “shape makers and entertainers”.

I have participated in many juried shows. I have placed best of show, first place, second place and honorable mention.  Painting is my passion!
