Renee Murillo

RENEE MURILLO was born in the Netherlands and raised in California. She lived her teenage years in Carmel, graduated from Carmel High School, and helped in the family restaurant business. After studying business at MPC, Renee moved to the SF Bay Area where she met her husband and together started a successful grocery business while raising a family. Renee always found time for painting. She studied art at the College of Marin under Wally Hedrick, and later took evening Pastel Portrait classes in Palo Alto. She studied with Halcyon Teed at the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto.

Renee feels that art is a very important part of life. “No matter how crazy life gets you can always count on painting to relax you and help you focus on things that you usually take for granted. Painting forces you to slow down and really see things in ways that were meant to be seen.” After 21 years Renee and Joe sold their grocery store and moved to beautiful Carmel Valley where they currently live.

In their spare time, Renee and Joe love to ride their bikes and hike together. Joe can be found out on the golf course while Renee is out riding her horse or painting her favorite portrait.
