Sue Cox

I began oil painting about five years ago. All my life I’ve dabbled with various art mediums as a way to relax and learn new techniques to try to express myself. For many years, while living in the Bay Area, I was primarily into black and white photography. Now color has become an important element to be explored and I have found myself drawn to landscape painting.

Living here on the coast I cannot help but be inspired by the ocean, yet am also a keen observer of the mountains, skies and trees. Having been born in England and spending the first half my life there, I will always have a special affinity for the countryside of my native home.

By taking classes, attending lectures, reading books, analyzing the paintings of artists I admire, and lots of experimenting, I am gradually learning to develop a style that interprets my vision of the places I love.
