1/2 Day-Plein Air Workshop by Marie Massey -July 20, 2019

TIME & PLACE:  9 AM TO 1 PM, MEET AT LOVERS’ POINT BEACH HOUSE CAFE

Come experience plein air painting at Lover’s Point in beautiful Pacific Grove, July 20, 9 am-1 pm. Instructor, Marie Massey, will demonstrate and explain the materials used and the steps necessary to paint outdoors using oils and/or acrylics on canvas. Then she will facilitate and coach students through their painting. giving instruction, critiques and helpful tips. Students will learn how to quickly build a composition with depth through the use of perspective, values and color and then fine tune their work by pushing and pulling values, softening and sharpening edges and adding details.

Each participant should plan to bring:
An easel (bring an umbrella if you have one), wear a hat and bring drinking water, 8” x 10” or larger canvas,
Bristle Brushes, size 2-12 for oil, Synthetic round brush and size 10 filbert or flat for acrylic, Odorless Turpentine
and water for Acrylics, Painting Medium: recommend Galkyd from Gamblin for oils.

Please also bring the following paints:

Oil Paints:
Lemon Yellow,    Ultramarine Blue ,                                 Permanent Green Light,   Titanium White
Yellow Deep ,      Cerulean Blue ,  Yellow Ochre,
Cadmium Orange,      Cobalt Blue,
Cadmium Red Medium,    Veridian,      Burnt Umber,
Alizarin Crimson,     Sap Green

Optional Colors:

Cadmium Yellow Medium

Turquoise,   King’s Blue

Acrylic Paints:
Red Deep           Optional Colors:
Dark Blue           Dark Green
Yellow                  Orange
White
